Areas that are good to live in near central London are the areas to the West and the North.
西と北がいいのか。土地勘がついてくると、良く分かるようになるだろう。
They feel safer and they are better serviced by the public transport.
交通がいいのか。
To give you an idea, areas to the West are Kensington, Notting Hill, Shepherd's Bush, Earls Court, Ealing.

他の名前は、少しずつ頭に残していこう。
I lived in Ealing (in zone 3) as it was cheaper,
このzoneというのは、tubeの料金エリアのようだ。
but it was also a really nice area, lots of parks,
やっぱり、大都市の郊外はいい。
トロントはもともと田舎で家賃が安かったからよいが、
東京、シドニーでは、少し郊外に住んだら面白かったと思ったので。
そういう意味では、イギリスの田舎町も考えなくはないが、やっぱりそれはない。
ただ、郊外だと、土地勘がないので、いきなり行って、どんなところか分からないのは難点。
そして、その場所の、会話が他の人としづらいのは嫌だし（ローカルトーク）。
僕が映画などの知識が多ければ、もっとここに住みたい、という好みが出てくるが。
ガイドブックでも読んでみよう。
and had the choice of the Central, Piccadilly, District tube lines to get into the City, which was great,
particularly if there were strikes or closures on particular lines.
I'm not so familiar with the North, but Camden is popular with many people.
To the South, I'd stick to the South West - Putney, Clapham Junction,
as the south-east is quite dodgy.

Not really all that familiar with the East side either,
but there are less tube options (most people end up on the slow district line) and the DLR is frequently non operational!
おお、それは結構大変。
Things may be improving now though with the Olympics -most things are going to be held in the East, so transport may improve..
but then again there may be major delays while they're getting all the infrastructure sorted!
まあ、やっぱり、郊外だけど、離れすぎないところ（ZONE１か２）だな。
家賃をケチるとロクなことないし、値段よりも条件（契約期間も含む）だから。
