Smart Light Sydney will feature a beautiful and dynamic light sculpture walk around Sydney's iconic harbour precinct, showcasing dozens of local and international artists.

The Light Walk will feature sculpture, interactive and performance-based art displays using cutting edge smart technology. Legendary musician and multimedia artist Brian Eno’s light treatment of the Sydney Opera House’s sails will act as the showpiece for the route.

Free each night, 26 May - 14 June, 6pm - Midnight.

Smart Light Sydney is a cornerstone(土台、基礎） of the new Vivid Sydney festival created by Events NSW. Vivid Sydney also features Luminous, a music festival at Sydney Opera House, Fire Water and Creative Sydney.

無料で各所に設置されているインスタレーションをめぐり、解説してくれる。

以下に、その一部を紹介。


まず、最初は、Lumenocity。





Due to inefficient or badly designed lighting, a significant portion of the energy used by built environment lighting is given off as heat, or is wasted by lighting unused spaces and our cities' skies, rather than just their streets — so much so that the Astronomical Society of Victoria has reported that sky brightness in Victoria roughly doubles each decade. The adverse（逆の、不都合な） effects of light pollution on human health and psychology are only beginning to be understood.
Lumenocity is an installation which documents（目に見える形に示す） and invites contemplation（熟考、意図） of the costs of Sydney's night time jewels. It is an abstraction of the city's CBD, illuminated by the glow of energy-efficient fluorescents.
The humming sound of the lanterns in the installation, the sound of consumption, build up to a chorus and serve as a counterpoint（対照的なもの） to the delicate（優美な、ほのかな） appearance of the miniature CBD, a salient（際立った） reminder of the price of Sydney's luminous beauty.
